COVID 19 Response

protecting you and our paramedics

Parry Sound District EMS is on the front line of the COVID-19 response in our area. Our paramedics are always prepared for any emergency, although the recent pandemic involves additional precautions. When required, our staff will be using protective equipment to prevent the transmission of the virus or other hazards.

When calling 911, you will be asked some new questions designed to screen for hazards related to the COVID-19 pandemic. This will not delay the ambulance and are asked to ensure the safety of the paramedics, other first responders, and you and your family. Please be honest with the communications officer and inform them of any precautions you are taking.

Together we can work to fight this virus and assist our health care system in treating everyone effectively.

Personal Protective Equipment

Check out this video of how our paramedics get dressed in their PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). The process of getting dressed and prepared in the gear is referred to as DONNING. When the crews are done, they will follow specific steps to remove it all, called DOFFING.
